Tips to Pass CeMAP Exam

The CeMAP Exam is quite tricky to pass as it is as much about knowledge as about technique. The Mortgage industry is a wide industry and therefore the syllabus for the CeMAP exams is comprised of financial services, assets, interest rates and products. The student should have complete knowledge about the mortgage products, financial instruments, interest rates and other relevant statutes compiled by the industry. He should be also become familiar with the constant fluctuations taking place in the market.

CeMAP is a course to train people to become a mortgage broker, mortgage compliance officer and for the insurance broker. Getting a CeMAP qualification is the stepping stone in becoming a mortgage broker. There are no minimum academic requirements you will have to meet in order to join a CeMAP course; all you need is a strong desire to learn. As you are aware, the qualification has been divided into three modules, CeMAP 1, CeMAP 2 and CeMAP 3 and to obtain the CeMAP qualification, you must pass the examinations in each of the three CeMAP modules. With CeMAP 3, it is essential that you are thorough with the sections. Section A and Section B deal with the start of the transaction right from when the mortgage is applied for until the offer is issued. On the other hand, Section C pertains to the procedure involved after the mortgage is issued.

It is important that you time your paper well and plan properly the time you are going to use on each case study. In the paper altogether you will have six case studies and each case study consists of ten multiple choice questions. It is therefore imperative that you time it well and spend twenty minutes on each case study.

You must have a a reasonable level of skill in arithmetic as the paper involves certain calculations. Percentage advances, higher lending fees calculations are just two examples. CeMAP 3 is like any other exam that has multiple choices and therefore it is prudent to leave out questions you’re not sure of and come back to them at the end. By all means, leave out those questions you initially find tough and come back to them before you move onto the next case study.

Please remember that you have totally two hours for the whole paper and decide beforehand how much time to spend on each case study. In the paper you will have 6 case studies all consisting of 10 multiple choice questions. We recommend 20 minutes on each case study.
